The SBS CEO Michael Ebeid has confirmed in a radio interview that the name of the Australian representative for Eurovision 2015 will be revealed next week!
The Australian broadcaster SBS will be announcing their choice for Vienna on March 5 at 9.00 am in Australia (CET and date will be confirmed later).
Australia was invited to join the competition by the EBU and the Austrian broadcaster ORF, according to this year’s theme Building Bridges, as a way to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Eurovision Song Contest.
As a result of the participation of Australia, this year a total of 27 countries will sing in the Grand Final set to take place in Vienna on May 23rd. If Australia was the winner, it would not be allowed to host next year’s Eurovision Song Contest since the 2016 edition is set to take place in a European country.
Last year, Australia already took part of the Eurovision Song Contest celebrated in Denmark, Jessica Mauboy performed as guest during the interval act of the second Semi-Final.
