Tonight at 20.45 CET, Albania will kick off the search for who will represent them at the Eurovision Song Contest next year in Copenhagen, when the 52nd edition of Festivali i Kënges (FIK) will begin. FIK has been used to select the Albanian song and singer ever since their debut in 2004.
16 finalists have been chosen to compete in this year’s FIK, the first 8 will perform tonight, while the the remaining 8 will be performing in the 2nd show tomorrow, December 27th. However the artists will not perform their only perform FIK entries tonight. They will also be performing big Albanian hits from the past in duets with popular Albanian singers. In the final on Saturday, December 28th, all 16 finalists will compete again, this time singing only their entries and a winner will be chosen to represent Albania in Copenhagen next year. Tonight’s hosts will be Enkel Demi, Xhesika Berberi and Marinela Meta.
The line up for tonight are the following:
- Luiz Ejlli – Kthehu (Come back) (will sing a duet with Mira Konçi)
- Rezarta Smaja – Në zemër (In the heart) (will sing a duet with Elton Deda)
- Entela Zhula and Edmond Mancaku – Vetëm për ty (Only for you) (will sing a duet with Altin Goci)
- Venera Lumani and Lindi Islami – Natë e pare (First night) (will sing a duet with Olta Boka)
- Xhejn & Enxhi Kumrija – Kur qielli qan (When the sky cries) (will sing a duet with Redon Makashi)
- Renis Gjoka – Nuk e di (I don’t know) (will sing a duet with Kejsi Tola)
- Sajmir Braho –Grua (Wife) (will sing a duet with Flaka Krelani)
- Herciana Matmuja – Zemërimi i një nate (One night’s anger) (will sing a duet with Endri & Stefi Prifti)

At the Eurovision 2014 in Malmö, Albania was represent by Adrian Lulgjuraj and Bledar Sejko with the song Identitet. They unfortunately didn’t qualify for the final as the song ended 15th in the 2nd semifinal.
