Several local groups and authorities of the Swedish city of Jönköping are urging city officials to send in a bid to host the 2024 Eurovision Song Contest.
The city of Jönköping
The city of Jönköping, which is situated in the south of Sweden, might place a bid to host next year’s contest, but the city needs to be persuaded first to do so. JönKöping is pushed to place a bid by Småland Tourism that hopes to gain more recognition when the contest would be hosted in this city.
About Jönköping
Jönköping has the most inhabitants of the whole Småland region, and has just under 150,000 people living in the area. This city is also famous because it is the birthplace of Agnetha Fältskog, one of the singers of the legendary winning Eurovision band, ABBA.
Husqvarna Garden
In case Jönköping would place a bid, then they would opt for Husqvarna Garden to be the 2024 host venue. This arena was opened in the year 2000. Hosting the contest in this arena will be tricky because with a capacity of 7,000 people the venue does not meet the requirements to actually host the contest, although it is the tenth biggest venue in all of Sweden.
EUROVISION 2023
This year’s contest is won by Sweden’s Loreen with the song “Tattoo”. Loreen’s win marks the first time a female singer has won the Eurovision Song Contest twice, since Loreen also won the 2012 song contest with the song “Euphoria”, which is one of the most successful songs in Eurovision history. Next to this, Loreen is the second singer to win the contest twice; Irish Johnny Logan came before her.
