A couple of weeks ago we reported that Cyprus would use its “All Together Now” TV show to choose next year’s Eurovision Song Contest contestant, but this week reports were published in which the use of the format apparently changed.
Worldwide popular TV show
The first season of the Cypriot version of the worldwide popular TV format will not be used to selects next year’s Cypriot representative, reports say. The format will be used to find the 2024 contestant of Cyprus, so that is also a confirmation that Cyprus want to participate in the 2024 contest. The announcement of the All Together Now format being used to choose the 2024 representative will be broadcast this Fall. The 2023 Cypriot representative will be chosen internally, which was the case for Cyprus since 2016.
Broadcast mid-October 2022
All Together Now will be broadcast on the TV channel ALPHA in Greece and by CyBC in Cyprus as of mid-October this year. The show will be broadcast on Saturday evenings. From every show two singer will progress to the semi-finals, and eventually the best of the best will battle it out during a grand final. In each round singers have to get good critiques from a jury consisting out of people who have a career in music. The Cypriot panel will have 50 judges (in other countries this number is a 100).
Eurovision 2022
In 2022 Cyprus did not do well in the Eurovision Song Contest in Turin, Italy; singer Andromache came in 12th in the Second Semi-Final, which meant no Cyprus in the Grand Final of 2022. Cyprus came in 9th with the public, but failed to convince the professional juries, which granted Andromache the last place in Semi-Final 2.
