Just a few minutes after the grand final of Junior Songfestival 2026, Dutch broadcaster AVROTROS began its search for new talent for the 2027 edition.
Following the victory of Maria with “Stronger Together”, which earned her the ticket to the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2026, the public broadcaster opened the call for applications for anyone wishing to take part in the next edition of the Dutch national selection for the children’s contest.
In doing so, the Netherlands confirms its participation in Junior Eurovision 2027 even before this year’s contest is held in Ta’ Qali (Malta) on Saturday 24 October. It will also be a symbolic edition in which the Netherlands will make its 25th consecutive appearance, as the only country to have taken part in every edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest.
“Junior Songfestival is looking for new talent this year! Are you between 9 and 14 years old and do you love singing, dancing, acting and making fun videos? Then Junior Songfestival is the perfect place for you! Sign up and you could make it to the final next year with your own song and music video, and become the star of our channels!”
AVROTROS
Once again, AVROTROS is looking for young artists aged between 9 and 14 who are keen to “sing, dance and act”. The parents or guardians of those interested must complete the application form published by the broadcaster with all the required details and give their consent to take part in Junior Songfestival 2027.
The form places particular emphasis on the age limit: applicants must not be older than 14 at the time of the 2027 contest. Interested children will have plenty of time to apply, as the form will remain open until 10 January 2027.
In this call, the Dutch broadcaster also accepts duos and groups, although their members must register and take part in the auditions individually, stating in an additional note: “Extra: I want to audition as part of a duo/group”. However, the producers reserve the right to decide the composition of the groups after the auditions and the Junior Songfestival Academy.
Applicants must upload a video in which they introduce themselves and sing a cover over an instrumental track. They must not use a track with the original vocals or perform the song a cappella.
This is how the Junior Songfestival 2027 selection process will work
Once applications close, an internal AVROTROS jury will review the candidates. The public broadcaster will contact all applicants, whether or not they have passed the first selection.
The selected candidates are expected to be announced in February 2027 and will then go through a round of in-person auditions, starting between February and March next year, with the aim of finding the finalists of Junior Songfestival 2027. The form also asks applicants to be available at weekends from March to September 2027 for recordings and rehearsals.
As usual, the Dutch broadcaster will kick off the season with its trademark special videos on YouTube, introducing the young artists of the edition over several weeks.
And so begins a new edition of the popular Dutch national selection that chooses the country’s representative at the European contest. It will be the 25th edition of Junior Songfestival, from which the Netherlands’ entry for Junior Eurovision 2027 will emerge.
