Italy presents “Che Cos’è l’Amore?”, its entry for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2026. Matteo Trullu will travel to Malta to compete as the Italian representative on the stage of the Malta Fairs & Conventions Centre (MFCC) in Ta’ Qali on Saturday, October 24.
The Radiotelevisione Italiana (RAI) has opted to internally select the winner of ‘The Voice Kids Italia’ as its representative. Matteo Trullu has worked on shaping his Eurovision entry, in which the 14-year-old singer remains faithful to his rock style.
This Friday, September 24, the Italian broadcaster premiered the entry with which the young artist will defend the colors of the Mediterranean country at the 24th edition of the European contest. The release of the song was accompanied by its official music video, now available on the official YouTube channel of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest.
Once again, the RAI team opted for its successful talent show ‘The Voice Kids Italia’ to select its representative for the children’s contest. Matteo Trullu will be the 12th Italian representative at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. In recent years, other contestants from ‘The Voice Kids Italia’, such as Melissa Agliottone and Ranya Moufidi (2023), Simone Grande (2024) and Leonardo Giovannangeli (2025), also embarked on the Eurovision adventure.

The music video for Matteo Trullu at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2026 is directed by Hélio Gomes, with Daniele Pezzoli and Emanuele Comincini in charge of cinematography. Mattia Boldrini worked as the camera operator, while Simone Pastore served as camera assistant.
The project was filmed at the Antidoto Cocktail Bar in Brescia, which served as the main location for the music video. Mariachiara Buizza, Denise Diviggiano, Antonella Armanasco and Marco Onger were part of the supporting cast, helping to create the setting and accompany Matteo Trullu’s performance.

Who is Matteo Trullu? Meet Italy’s representative at Junior Eurovision 2026
Matteo Trullu was born in Cagliari, although he is from Decimomannu, in the province of Cagliari, Sardinia. A singer and multi-instrumentalist, he has become one of the major revelations in Italian children’s music after winning, in February 2026, the fourth edition of ‘The Voice Kids Italia’, as part of Nek’s team.
His relationship with music began at a very young age. At just four years old, he became a finalist in the regional auditions for ‘Zecchino d’Oro’, and shortly afterwards he began singing with the Piccolo Coro di San Sperate, a children’s ensemble from his local area. However, his true passion was always rock, especially music from the 1970s and 1980s. Among his favorite bands are Europe and Twisted Sister, and at the age of six, he asked for his first electric guitar as a gift. A year later, he began to study singing and subsequently added piano and drums to his training, becoming a true multi-instrumentalist.
His big opportunity came with ‘The Voice Kids Italia’. During the blind auditions, he surprised everyone with “Bohemian Rhapsody” by Queen, performed while playing the electric guitar, and throughout the competition he once again demonstrated his affinity for rock with “Somebody to Love”, also by Queen. In the grand final, he opted for “Maniac” by Michael Sembello, from the soundtrack of Flashdance, once again combining vocals and guitar. The performance ultimately earned him victory with both the public and the jury.
Following his television triumph, Matteo Trullu has taken part in various music programs and events and has shared the stage with Italian artists such as Silvia Mezzanotte, Omar Pedrini, Rocco Hunt and Samurai Jay. His success was also officially celebrated in Decimomannu: in April 2026, the Town Council granted him a recognition and financial assistance aimed at supporting his artistic training.
