Spain already has its representative for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2026. Lucas Paulano will be responsible for defending the colors of our country on the stage of the Malta Fairs & Conventions Centre in Ta’ Qali (Malta) on Saturday, October 24. The 10-year-old young artist was the winner of the 10th edition of ‘La Voz Kids’ on Antena 3 in 2025.
Radiotelevisión Española (RTVE) has revealed the identity of its representative in the children’s competition on the programme ‘El perro andaluz’, hosted by comedian Manu Sánchez, this Thursday, July 30, from 23:00 CEST, coinciding with its season finale. Once again, the broadcaster has decided to make this major announcement in prime time on one of its most-watched programmes of the day, having been the audience leader in six of its seven previous broadcasts.
As a special detail, the young singer performed a Spanish version of «Grande Amore», Il Volo’s entry in the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest representing Italy, following their previous victory at the Sanremo Festival.
This will be Spain’s 12th participation in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. RTVE continues its commitment to showcasing the emerging talent of our country.
As a new development, the public broadcaster has decided to internally select its representative without a prior call for applications, a selection format that was customary between 2022 and 2025. With his selection, the Spanish delegation gets underway and plunges into frantic weeks of preparations ahead of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2026.
Young Lucas Paulano takes over from Gonzalo Pinillos and becomes Spain’s representative on the European stage. RTVE officials have opted for a young voice with international potential and stage presence. His talent will be accompanied by a proposal adapted to the spirit of Junior Eurovision.
For the time being, we will have to wait a few weeks to find out about his Eurovision entry. The broadcaster has not yet revealed the song title or the details of the candidacy. The Spanish entry is expected to be officially presented ahead of the start of the new television season, together with its promotional music video.

Who is Lucas Paulano? Meet Spain’s representative at Junior Eurovision 2026
Lucas Paulano is a 10-year-old young singer from Jaén. In 2025, he gained great popularity after being crowned the winner of the 10th edition of ‘La Voz Kids’, becoming, at the young age of 8, the youngest contestant to win the show in Spain.
From a very young age, he showed great talent for music. His father, an amateur musician, was the one who taught him his first singing lessons and accompanied him on the guitar during many of his performances. Before appearing on television, he had barely performed in public, with a school performance during Peace Day standing out.
On ‘La Voz Kids’, Lucas Paulano impressed from the Blind Auditions with his performance of «Luz De Luna» by Mexican singer Javier Solís, managing to make several coaches want to bring him onto their teams. He ultimately chose Manuel Turizo as his coach, with whom he continued to grow throughout the competition thanks to performances filled with sensitivity and vocal quality.
In the Great Battle, he earned his place in the next stage with «Dígale» by David Bisbal. Meanwhile, in the Knockouts, he secured a fast pass to the final stage. In the semifinal, he went for the emotional song «Amor Eterno» by the late Rocío Dúrcal.
During the grand final, Lucas Paulano moved the audience with his performance of «Algo De Mí» by Camilo Sesto, a performance that has accumulated more than 6.5 million views on YouTube. He also shared the stage with Kapo and his fellow contestant Geraldine Aranda in the song «Uwaie». He also joined his great voice with that of Manuel Turizo, performing «Quiéreme Mientras Se Pueda». Finally, young Lucas Paulano emerged victorious, also marking Manuel Turizo’s first victory as a coach on the programme.
Lucas Paulano is considered one of the young promises of Spanish music. His voice, naturalness, and charisma have won over the public, and his time on ‘La Voz Kids’ marked the beginning of a promising artistic career. Among his first works is his debut single «Todo Sigue Igual», a song featuring composition by the artist himself in collaboration with Alejandro Jaén, Luigi Flores, and William Paz. The song was released at Christmas 2025.
Spain, on the road to the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2026
Spain will not miss its annual date with the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. In an unprecedented move, before RTVE made it official, the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) confirmed Spain’s participation in the 2026 edition, which will take place at the Malta Fairs & Conventions Centre (MFCC) in Ta’ Qali (Malta) on Saturday, October 24.
Despite not competing in the recent 2026 Eurovision Song Contest in protest against Israel’s participation, the Spanish broadcaster maintains its commitment to the children’s competition, in what will be its 12th participation in the European contest. However, this long-awaited news was delayed, making it one of the editions in which Spain’s participation was confirmed the latest. This prompted a large number of rumors about a possible withdrawal by Spain.
The announcement was made on July 24, exactly three months before the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2026, where 16 countries will compete, two fewer than in 2025 (Azerbaijan and Croatia have withdrawn without giving any reason).
