Italy: Sanremo week starts tonight!

From today until Saturday, the famous Italian music festival will be held every evening-night from the city of Sanremo!

A total of twenty artists (Campioni Category) will be competing at this year’s edition to get the trophy and consequently have the chance to represent Italy at Eurovision 2016. However, if the winner declines the invitation, the Italian hopeful for Stockholm will be selected among the other candidates.

These are the first 10 artists to take the stage at today’s show:

  1. Arisa – Guardando il Cielo
  2. Bluvertigo – Semplicemente
  3. Giovanni Caccamo & Deborah Iurato – Via Da Qui
  4. Dear Jack – Mezzo Respiro
  5. Irene Fornaciari – Blu
  6. Lorenzo Fragola – Infinite Volta
  7. Noemi – La Borssa di una Donna
  8. Rocco Hunt – Wake Up
  9. Enrico Ruggeri – Il Primo Amore Non Si Scorda Mai
  10. Stadio – Un Giorno mi Dirai

The voting will be open from today night until Friday when a mix of public televote, professional jury and audience will decide the four acts which won’t make through to the final of Sanremo, set on Saturday.

At today’s show, some well-known singers will be performing during the interval act: Laura Pausini, Aldo, Giovanni e Giacomo, Elton John and Maitre Gims.

Dates of Sanremo 2016:

  • Semi-Final 1 – February 9
  • Semi-Final 2 – February 10
  • Semi-Final 3 – Feburuary 11
  • Semi-Final 4 – February 12
  • Final – February 13

The 66th edition of Sanremo will be hosted by Carlo Conti along with Gabriel Garko, Madalina Ghenea and Virginia Raffaele. You can watch the show live on RAI 1 at 20.30:
