Meet Jonas Lovv and his “Ya ya ya”
JONAS LOVV, originally from Fyllingsdalen, in Bergen, is one of the most striking emerging voices in contemporary Norwegian pop-rock. Although to the general public he may seem like a recent artist, on the Bergen music scene he has spent more than a decade building his path. He has been part of several local bands, performed to sold-out venues in his hometown, taken part in major festivals, and received airplay on various radio stations.
His major media breakthrough came after his participation in The Voice Norge, where he won over both the jury and the audience thanks to his raspy voice, intense performances, and magnetic stage presence. Since then, he has established himself as an artist with a distinct identity, known for his explosive energy, unique style, and ability to connect directly and emotionally with the audience. For Lovv, there is no barrier between stage and audience: every concert is a shared experience.
On digital platforms, his impact is also evident. Among his most popular songs is “Ya Ya Ya”, which has surpassed 86,000 streams and has become one of his signature tracks. It is followed by live versions such as “Grace Kelly – Live” (over 92,000 streams), “Love Of My Life – Live” (over 91,000), and especially “Play That Funky Music – Live”, which exceeds 134,000 plays, confirming his strength on stage. Other notable tracks in his catalog include “Bullet Me – Live”, “Whole Lotta Love – Live”, “Blind”, “Teller du til hundre”, “Aldri tilbake”, and “Godnattsang for nissunger”, showcasing both his versatility and his ability to alternate between rock power and more intimate registers.
Musically, JONAS LOVV embraces various genres, combining pop, rock, and more alternative elements. His track “Ya Ya Ya” clearly reflects his creative universe: an intense and catchy song that explores the more visceral side of love and obsession. With lines such as “Baby, I’m an animal, I got no self-control” and a repetitive and cathartic chorus — “Won’t let go, ya ya ya ya” — it conveys overflowing passion, vulnerability, and a raw energy that defines his style.
Beyond music, Lovv uses fashion as an extension of his artistic expression. Aesthetics are an essential part of his public identity, and he actively works to break dress norms shaped by gender stereotypes and sexualization. His message is clear: dare to be yourself and not “care” about what others may think.
