About Jamala:
Jamala is a singer and composer from Ukraine. She performs music written by herself mixing influences of soul, jazz, funk and rock. The turning point in Jamala’s career is her performance at the “New Wave – 2009” International contest of young singers in Jurmala. She was awarded the grand prize, impressing the jury with her talent and outstanding vocal abilities to sing in a variety of genres.
In 2016, she won the Eurovision Song Contest in Stockholm after an exciting national final where she had to face Russia and Australia at the top of the scoreboard. That year, Sergey Lazarev represented Russia for the first time. He is back in the game and is among Jamala’s favourites to win in Tel Aviv.
