Eurovision 2021 – ESCplus had an interview with Gjon’s Tears from Switzerland

Jose Rodari, from Eurovision Sound, a Spanish weekly podcast in collaboration with ESCplus España, had the opportunity to speak with Gjon’s Tears before he traveled to Eurovision 2021. They talked about his music, his name, and his shows on Spanish television.

Gjon Muharremai, artistically known as Gjon’s Tears, was born in Broc, Switzerland, on June 29, 1998.

Born to a Kosovar father and an Albanian mother, he began to sing from a young age, when he was only nine years old, thanks to his grandfather, whom he made cry with his versions of Elvis Presley.

In 2011, at the age of 13, he participated in the first edition of Albania’s Got Talent and was one of the finalists for his ability to interpret songs in French.

A year later, he appeared on the Swiss version of the same program (he reached the semifinals), and in 2019, at the age of 20, he also reached the semifinal of the eighth season of The Voice: la plus belle voix, the French edition of The Voice. That same year, he released his first single, Babi, an indie song composed in English in which he recovers part of his roots by adding the Albanian chorus parts.

Gjon’s Tears will represent Switzerland in French with the theme Tout l ’Universe, just as it would have done last year if the festival had not been canceled due to the pandemic.
