A great interview

Our reporter, Denis Kurris, got the chance to have an interview with Lauri Ylönen, lead singer of the band. During the interview Denis discussed multiple topics, like how the band experiences their preparations for their Eurovision performance, but also why Lauri did not compete in the Eurovision Song Contest of 2018 with Finnish DJ Darude. It was a great interview during which Lauri really dared to open up about the ins and outs of The Rasmus performing during the contest of 2022.

A brief history of The Rasmus

Finnish rock band The Rasmus came together in 1994 when the band members were still in high school, their name back then was Sputnik at first, but they changed it to Atilla, and eventually to Rasmus. In 1995 the band got a manager, and in that same year they released their first single, which led to the group being discovered by Warner Music Finland. The first album of the group became gold in Finland and Estonia respectively. Many successes followed in the years after this, like the band performing together with typical ‘90’s rock bands, such as Red Hot Chili Peppers, HIM, Roxette and Garbage. Most people will know The Rasmus from their grand international hit “In The Shadows”, which also meant single and album success overseas. Nowadays, The Rasmus is a mainstay when it comes down to modern rock music, resulting in the band performing on the 2022 Eurovision stage in Italy.
