The San Marinese national broadcaster, RTV, has announced that more than 1,000 submissions have been done to compete in the national final of the mini state, called “Una Voce per San Marino 2023”.

RTV, the national broadcaster of San Marino, has made public that over a 1,000 applicants want to compete in Una Voce per San Marino 2023, the national final of the country. Singers and composers of over 31 countries have submitted possible entries to become the successor of 2022’s Achille Lauro. Some of the countries applicants come from are: Luxembourg, Belgium, Norway, Russia, Sweden, Albania, Latvia, Greece, Serbia, and the United Kingdom. This also means that there are more applicants than last year, about 200 more.
The application and registration deadline
The application deadline has been moved a couple of weeks ago to January 27th 2023. The period to register has been extended from January 15th 2023 to February 3rd 2023.
What is next?
What is next when it comes down to the San Marinese selection for the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 in Liverpool (UK)? The next castings will be on January 20th and 21st 2023, and from January 23rd until the 29th 2023 in San Marino.
- Casting phase: Between October 28th 2022 – January 27th 2023, not televised (60 acts proceed)
- 5 Semi-finals: Between February 18th – 20th 2023, broadcast with delay on SMRTV (20 acts will proceed)
- Grand Final: February 25th 2023, broadcast live on SMRTV
The winner will be chosen by a jury of five professionals in the music industry. There will be no televoting as the mini state of San Marino makes use of Italian network providers, so distinguishing San Marinese and Italian televoters is not possible.
Eurovision 2022
In the contest of 2022 in Turin (Italy) glam rock singer Achille Lauro competed for San Marino with the song “Stripper”; Achille did not make it into the Grand Final, because he ended in 14th place in Semi-final 2.
