True to its tradition, France will take part in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2026. The children’s contest will be held on Saturday, 24 October at the Malta Fairs & Conventions Centre (MFCC) in Ta’ Qali (Malta). Following Lou Deleuze’s victory with the song «Ce Monde» in Tbilisi 2025, the French will have the opportunity to defend their fourth crystal microphone and try to become the country with the most victories in the history of the children’s festival.
France will be represented by Alec Burette, a 12-year-old singer, pianist, guitarist and composer from the French region of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes. The young artist was officially presented as the French representative on 20 June during the celebration of ‘La Fête de la Musique’, broadcast live on France 2 from the Théâtre Antique d’Orange.
In this 24th edition of the children’s contest, Alec Burette will take to the Eurovision stage with «Comment Tu Vas ?», a song selected internally by the French delegation.
This time, it is the turn to discover the biography and professional career of Alec Burette, France’s representative at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2026. The young artist secured his ticket to Ta’ Qali after being internally selected by broadcaster France Télévisions.
How did his journey towards Junior Eurovision begin? What made him fall in love with music? What are his biggest dreams? And what is the meaning behind the song he will perform on the Ta’ Qali stage? Through his story, we get to know young Alec Burette, who is taking part in this 24th edition, more closely.
This is Alec Burette: a young musician with an outstanding career
Alec Burette is a young French national born in 2014. At 12 years old, he has not only begun working in the world of music as a singer, but also plays the piano and guitar and composes his own songs, making him one of the Junior Eurovision 2026 contestants with one of the most complete musical backgrounds.
His artistic profile stands out especially for his connection with instruments. Alec Burette began playing the piano at just 5 years old and started learning the guitar at the age of 7. In addition to performing songs by other artists, the young musician also composes his own works and uses the piano as one of the main elements of his performances.
Although music has been present in his life from a very early age, the artist himself revealed during his presentation that he had begun taking singing lessons in September 2025. In this way, his professional vocal training began less than a year before he was selected to represent France at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2026.
Despite his limited experience studying singing, Alec Burette has already managed to develop a remarkable level of confidence on stage. The young artist often performs ballads and French classics accompanied by his piano, including songs by artists such as Céline Dion, Francis Cabrel, Zaho de Sagazan and Charles Aznavour.
As for his musical influences, Alec Burette has a repertoire closely linked to French chanson and melodic pop. In recent years, he has performed works by several prominent figures in French and international music. He has also shown an interest in songs where he can combine his voice with the piano and develop more intimate and melodic performances.
A musical education shaped by the piano and guitar
Alec Burette’s musical career began when he was just 5 years old, the age at which he started playing the piano. Two years later, the young artist expanded his musical training by learning to play the guitar. Over time, he also began to compose his own songs, thus developing a role as a songwriter alongside his work as a performer.
The piano has become the young artist’s most characteristic instrument. Many of his performances feature Alec Burette seated at the instrument, accompanying his voice with his own arrangements and versions of well-known songs. This ability to sing and play at the same time was one of the elements he showcased during his presentation as the French representative.
During ‘La Fête de la Musique’, Alec Burette performed a live piano mash-up of «Ce Monde», the song with which Lou Deleuze secured France’s fourth victory at Junior Eurovision, and «I’m Still Standing», one of Elton John’s best-known songs. In this way, the young artist was able to introduce himself to the French public by showcasing both his vocal ability and his skills on the piano. Before being selected for Junior Eurovision, the young musician also regularly played in different public spaces and on community pianos.
First music competitions and television experience
Despite his young age, Alec Burette has already taken part in various children’s music competitions and contests. In 2025, he won ‘Les Étoiles du Léman’, a festival aimed at young talents from the French-speaking world and French-speaking Switzerland. This victory became one of the first major recognitions of his musical career.
That same year, the young artist attended the auditions for the French version of ‘The Voice Kids’ held in Lyon. For his audition, he chose a piano version of «Popcorn Salé», a song by French artist Santa. Also in 2025, Alec Burette took part in ‘N’oubliez pas les enfants’, a children’s edition of the well-known programme ‘N’oubliez pas les paroles’ broadcast on France 2. This appearance was particularly important for the young artist’s career, as it allowed the French delegation to discover both his voice and his musical abilities.
In fact, France Télévisions describes his participation in ‘N’oubliez pas les enfants’ as the moment when he was discovered by the public broadcaster. His personality, artistic sensitivity and confidence on stage convinced French television and the Eurovision delegation to select him as the country’s representative.
New projects in musical theatre
In addition to his appearances in music competitions and television programmes, Alec Burette has also begun working in the world of musical theatre. The young artist is part of the cast of ‘Une seconde avant Noël – Le musical’, a family production based on the work of writer Romain Sardou.
In this project, Alec Burette plays the young Harold, one of the main characters in the story. The show is scheduled to run between 11 December 2026 and 17 January 2027 at the Théâtre des Folies Bergère in Paris, meaning that its premiere will take place after his participation in Junior Eurovision. This work represents one of his first major professional projects and will allow him to combine acting, singing and live music.
This is «Comment Tu Vas ?», Alec Burette’s entry to represent France at Junior Eurovision 2026
Alec Burette will compete at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2026 with the song «Comment Tu Vas ?», which translates into Spanish as “How Are You?”. The song with which he will try to secure the fifth crystal microphone for France at the European contest was composed by the French representative himself together with Malory “Malo’” Legardinier.
The music video for «Comment Tu Vas ?» was produced by Panache Records and Les Casquettes Films, with Marc Postel-Vinay as executive producer and Franck Marchand in charge of directing, the screenplay and editing. The music video project used several different locations, including the Théâtre de la Tour Eiffel.
The song conveys a message of empathy, hope and emotional support. The singer addresses someone he may not know personally, but with whom he shares feelings and desires, especially the search for happiness. The repeated question “Comment tu vas ?” (How are you?) works as an invitation to express what one feels and to recognise the light and strength carried within.
The lyrics also encourage people to dream, feel free and rediscover hope, leaving worries behind and allowing themselves to imagine a future of their own. The piano and the voice symbolise a way of awakening what remains hidden within us. In addition, the song conveys the idea that no one has to face difficult moments alone: “you can count on me” expresses solidarity and friendship.
In this way, the French entry is a celebration of unity, confidence and resilience, reminding us that, even when things are not going well, there can always be hope and support in others.
Lyrics of «Comment Tu Vas ?» by Alec Burette, France’s entry for Junior Eurovision 2026
French
Bonsoir comment tu vas ?
On ne se connaît sûrement pas
On n’est pas si différents
Pas autant que tu le crois
Où es-tu ? Où que tu sois
Je me reconnais en toi
On est tous faits d’un cœur
Qui recherche le bonheur
Approche un instant
J’ai des choses à te dire
Oublions le temps
Arrêtons de vieillir
Est-ce que tu rêves encore
D’écrire ta belle histoire ?
Alors si t’es d’accord
Ouvre les yeux ce soir
Comment tu vas ?
Comment tu vas ?
Sens-tu la lumière en toi ?
Comment tu vas ?
Comment tu vas ?
Le monde est à toi tu vois
Imagine ta liberté
Comme un reflet de vérité
Un piano et ma voix
Réveillent tout ce qui sommeille en toi
Comment tu vas ?
Comment tu vas ?
Sens-tu la lumière en toi ?
Comment tu vas ?
Comment tu vas ?
Le monde est à toi crois-moi
Et si ça ne va pas
Et si ça ne va pas
Tu pourras compter sur moi
Tout tout tout tout tout ira
Tout tout tout tout tout survivra
Tout tout tout tout dans nos voix
Est-ce que vous êtes prêts ?
Comment tu vas ?
(Tout tout tout tout tout ira
Tout tout tout tout tout survivra)
Sens-tu la lumière en toi ?
Dis-moi dis-moi comment tu vas ?
(Tout tout tout tout tout ira
Tout tout tout tout tout survivra)
Dis-moi, dis moi
Bouboubouboubouboubou
Dis-moi dis-moi
Comment tu vas ?
English
Good evening, how are you?
We probably don’t know each other
We’re not so different
Not as much as you think
Where are you? Wherever you are
I see myself in you
We all have a heart
That longs for happiness
Come closer for a moment
I have some things to tell you
Let’s forget about time
Let’s stop growing older
Do you still dream
Of writing your beautiful story?
So if you’re willing
Open your eyes tonight
How are you?
How are you?
Can you feel the light inside you?
How are you?
How are you?
The world is yours, you see
Imagine your freedom
Like a reflection of truth
A piano and my voice
Awaken all that sleeps within you
How are you?
How are you?
Can you feel the light inside you?
How are you?
How are you?
The world is yours, believe me
And if you’re not okay
And if you’re not okay
You can count on me
Everything, everything, everything will be alright
Everything, everything, everything will survive
Everything, everything, everything in our voices
Are you ready?
How are you?
(Everything, everything, everything will be alright
Everything, everything, everything will survive)
Can you feel the light inside you?
Tell me, tell me, how are you?
(Everything, everything, everything will be alright
Everything, everything, everything will survive)
Tell me, Tell me
Bouboubouboubouboubou
Tell me, tell me
How are you?

France at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest
France made its debut at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Lillehammer 2004, when young Thomas Pontier took the song «Si On Voulait Bien» to the Lillehammer stage. Despite it being the country’s first participation in the contest, he achieved a very respectable sixth place with 78 points. However, following that appearance, public broadcaster France 3 decided to withdraw from the contest, arguing that it was not the most suitable format for its programming. As a result, France was absent for more than a decade.
The return did not come until 2018, and it did so in style. Angélina represented the country in Minsk with the upbeat «Jamais sans toi». Her charm and energy won over both the jury and the public, earning her a brilliant second place with 203 points. Since then, France has become one of the major protagonists of the contest.
In 2019, Carla took to the Gliwice stage with the catchy «Bim Bam Toi», which, despite finishing fifth, became a true viral phenomenon, especially on TikTok, becoming one of the most popular songs to emerge from the contest. But the big moment came in 2020, when Valentina represented France in Warsaw remotely with «J’imagine». With its cheerful message during the pandemic year, she achieved France’s first victory in the history of the contest, scoring 200 points.
Thanks to that victory, France hosted Junior Eurovision in 2021, with the edition held in Paris. That year, Enzo represented the host country with «Tic Tac», achieving an impressive third place. In 2022, history repeated itself: Lissandro and his song «Oh Maman!» secured the second victory for France, this time in Yerevan, with 203 points and a style that combined children’s rock with a highly dynamic staging.
Most surprisingly, in 2023, in Nice, France achieved its third victory in just four years. This time, it was Zoé Clauzure, a young pianist with great musical sensitivity, who won the contest with «Cœur», setting a historic record for the country: 228 points, France’s highest score at Junior Eurovision to date. Then, in 2024, with expectations set very high, France once again backed young talent and selected Titouan Hervo with «Comme ci comme ça». His entry earned him a solid fourth place with 177 points at the edition held in Madrid.
Meanwhile, at the recent Tbilisi 2025 edition, France once again reached the top of the scoreboard with young Lou Deleuze and her «Ce Monde». She scored 248 points, becoming the favourite in the national juries’ vote and finishing second in the online vote.
