Azerbaijan confirms its return to Junior Eurovision 2025 and will internally select its representative in Tbilisi

After three editions of absence, the Azerbaijani broadcaster begins the search for its flag-bearer in the children’s contest, with the selection to be made by a six-member panel of experts

Azerbaijan will be in Tbilisi. The public broadcaster İctimai TV has confirmed through its official social media profiles its return to Junior Eurovision 2025. After three editions of absence, the Caucasian country rejoins the competition. This marks an eagerly awaited and symbolic comeback, as it coincides with the 23rd edition of the contest, to be held in Tbilisi (Georgia) on Saturday, December 13.

Thus, Azerbaijan embarks on its fifth participation in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, after attempting to return in 2024 but being unable to do so due to the difficulty of finding an artist with a suitable profile.

On this occasion, İctimai TV will once again select its representative internally. To this end, they invite all young artists in the country to register for the call.

In addition, this time they seek the collaboration of the country’s Ministry of Culture, with the goal of compiling a comprehensive list of young talents who have taken part in various international competitions and festivals. Therefore, this promising return aims to put together a competitive entry in order to continue improving the country’s results in the contest.

“The goal is to find the strongest voice that can represent our country properly! Now the stage is yours!”

“Win the hearts of millions with your performance, wave the Azerbaijani flag in Tbilisi!”

It should be remembered that Azerbaijan’s last participation dates back to Paris 2021, when Sona Azizova took the Junior Eurovision stage with “I Wanna Be A Star.” After achieving its best historical result, the Caucasian country withdrew in 2022 due to the conflict with Armenia, and in 2023 and 2024 remained absent from the contest.

In this way, Junior Eurovision 2025 now reaches 18 participating countries, already surpassing the level of participation of previous editions and achieving its best figure since Paris 2021. All this while still awaiting possible surprises with the publication of the official list. Interestingly, on its return to Caucasian soil, the children’s contest will once again bring together all the countries of the region (Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Georgia).

This will be the internal selection process for Azerbaijan’s representative at Junior Eurovision 2025

In addition to confirming its participation this Saturday, August 16, Azerbaijan begins the search for its representative with the opening of the call. İctimai TV wants to find “a talented child artist to perform on stage.”

Young talents interested in competing in the internal selection can send their applications via WhatsApp to the number 055 205 31 23. Boys and girls between the ages of 9 and 14 may take part by submitting two different songs, including one in Azerbaijani and others in foreign languages.

Among the videos submitted in this initial stage, the brightest performers will be selected to compete in the next phase. Afterwards, a professional six-member jury will evaluate the candidates, taking into account their stage presence, vocal abilities, and charisma on stage.
