Gonzalo Pinillos will be the Spanish flag-bearer at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2025, which will take place for the second time in Georgia’s capital, Tbilisi, on Saturday, December 13. The young artist was selected from among 270 candidates who registered in the call.
The open call by RTVE to select this year’s representative has once again been a resounding success, receiving a total of 270 applications, only slightly fewer—about 30 less—than last year’s edition, which had the highest demand since our return in 2019, logically motivated by being the host country. Thus, it is quite an achievement that the numbers are similar to those of 2024, almost triple those of 2022 and 2023.
With his selection, this will be Spain’s 11th entry in Junior Eurovision. In this edition our country will once again attempt to repeat María Isabel’s victory, 21 years later, and bring the festival back to Spain after hosting it successfully for the first time last year 2024 at La Caja Mágica in Madrid.
Gonzalo Pinillos thus joins the successful list of Spanish representatives in the children’s festival such as Sergio (2003), María Isabel (2004), Antonio José (2005), Dani Fernández (2006), Melani García (2019), Soleá (2020), Levi Díaz (2021), Carlos Higes (2022), Sandra Valero (2023) and Chloe DelaRosa (2024).
The meeting with the press where it was revealed that Gonzalo Pinillos is our representative took place during the morning of this 23rd of July in the presence of María Eizaguirre, RTVE’s Director of Communication and Participation; César Vallejo, head of the Spanish delegation to Eurovision and Junior Eurovision; and Ana María Bordas, President of the Reference Group of the EBU for Eurovision.
In addition, she is the Director of Content Production at RTVE and co-director of the Benidorm Fest, where the Spanish proposal for Eurovision is selected. She is also a member of the leadership group of Junior Eurovision.
The Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2025 will take place in the capital of Georgia, Tbilisi, on December 13. Returning to the Caucasus, the children’s contest will reach its 23rd edition, still held on a Saturday, but advancing its broadcast time to 17:00 CET.

The Song Will Be Chosen Internally
Now comes the time to select Chloe de la Rosa’s song. RTVE will internally choose the song with which Spain will participate in the 22nd edition of the European competition. It is worth noting that, during the official presentation of Benidorm Fest 2025 on Monday, July 8, César Vallejo highlighted that a call had been made to composers and songwriters for Junior Eurovision 2025 to find the most suitable song for Spain’s future representative. In this way, the independent selection of artist and song is maintained.
