Spanish commentator José María Iñiego has died today at the age of 75. He provided the Eurovision commentary for the Spanish broadcaster TVE for the last seven years.
José María was born in 1942 and starting working at COPE radio station at the age of 18. He then moved to London and started working for the music department of another radio station, SER, where he provided commentary for the first Spanish Eurovision victory, in the year 1968.
Spanish radio public broadcaster RNE announced his death at the beginning of the matinal show “No es un día cualquiera” of which he was a regular contributor. You’ll be missed, Iñigo. Rest in peace.
