Netherlands 2024: Tomorrow we will know who is going to represent this country

Tomorrow (11-12-2023)  we will know who is going to represent the Netherlands in the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 in Malmö (Sweden). Last Friday (08-12-2023) Dutch national broadcaster, AVROTROS, announced that they will make their representative public, so now we eagerly await who is going to join the Eurovision artist family for the Netherlands.

Video about the selection process

Next to the above, AVROTROS posted a video on their media outlets that showed how the Dutch selection process comes about; you can watch the video below. At the end we can see that the announcement will be tomorrow (11-12-2023). The video is in Dutch, but has English subtitles.

About the video

In the video about the Dutch selection process one can see many things about this specific process, but it also shows that the Netherlands wants to give the fans a lot of transparency, especially after last year’s debacle about which fans said that there was a huge lack of transparency.

In the first round all selection committee members listened to the 600+ songs that were submitted to the Dutch national broadcaster, AVROTROS, individually and together, and after this a selection was made. Afterwards the committee came together and chose five songs that would move on. Then all five artists were asked to do a live audition in front of the jury members, and eventually the actual choice was made.

Rumours

Tomorrow there comes an end to the rumour mill which pointed out several (well-known) Dutch artists as the possible 2024 representative of the Netherlands.

Most likely are…

Most likely to be the Netherlands’ next representative are Joost Klein, Karsu, or Numidia, but there are no real facts to state this claim, only hearsay stories and a lot of rumours. Who it is going to be remains yet to be seen, because it might just be a totally different artist.

Eurovision 2023

In Eurovision 2023 the Netherlands was represented by Mia Nicolai & Dion Cooper with the song “Burning Daylight”. Mia and Dion ended up in 13th place (of 15) in Semi-final 1, thus not made it to the Grand Final. It was the worst result of the Netherlands since 2015, and the lowest score of this country since 1994.
