Interview Eurostars Eurovision 2014

Valentina: “I will sing in English” (Exclusive Interview)

Hello Valentina!  First of all, congratulations on having been selected to represent San Marino at Eurovision once more time!

ESC+Plus: How was the procedure until you were finally named as San Marinese entrant for Eurovision 2014? Did you make a proposal to SMTV or did the broadcaster contact you?

Valentina: The proposal was simultaneous and collaborative .. After seeing last year’s results and the comparison with the expectations .. SMTV decided to continue in the end with me in the same direction .. They really liked our work and I owe it to you that I have been supported .. Thank you ..

E+: You are the most experienced participant at Eurovision 2014, how do you feel about it?

Valentina: The most experienced? It’s every time a new story with new emotions and logics for this .. I can definitely feel very lucky. I’ve got many ideas and learned a lot, thanks to Eurovision.

E+: Can you tell you the differences you found between your participation in 2012 and 2013? Which one did you enjoy the most?

Valentina: Both. They have been so different. In 2012 I was a little taken by surprise the last minute and went along with the flow. In 2013 I got full awareness of how important it all was, my mission in this context.

E+: Talking about Copenhagen, what kind of staging will you use during your Eurovision performance? How about the costume?

Valentina: Secret.. 😉

E+: Can you tell us what your song is about? What’s the story behind the lyrics?

Valentina: Maybe we are, in the continuous development of events triggered by our evolution. Maybe it is an evolution of the Chrysalis in some way, and it is a wonderful gift we give ourselves, thinking endlessly how many possibilities and opportunities we have in life, if only we stopped to listen and to believe in instincts every now and then.

E+: Will you sing the song in English or in Italian?

Valentina: In English.

E+: How was the shooting of the official video? Any funny anecdote?

Valentina: It was a wonderful gift by director Michele Massari and artictic director Fabrizio Raggi .. sea and wind, the thing that I love the most after  music are part of it. It was so cold that day but I felt a mental warmth being able to seize the moment even if the thunder came upon us, as we see towards the end of the video. The rain came pouring, me with bare feet wet with -3 ° in a cotton dress that reveals how cold it felt – it was  exciting and fun!

E+: How are your preparations for Eurovision going on?

Valentina: Like the transition between seasons .. it’s beautiful in spring to prepare for a trip so inspiring and instructive as Eurovision .. I train physically and mentally, my voice responds accordingly to my physical or mental condition, so I try to keep up the good mood as much as possible, thinking that I’m very lucky to have an opportunity like this again .

E+: What does Eurovision mean for you? It is already a part of you, isn’t it?

Valentina: Yes, it is part of me, a fact of my life,  an important and also very rewarding one. An experience of this kind marks you.

E+: Have you listened to the other Eurovisión 2014 entries? What are your favourite songs?

Valentina: Hungary and Germany

E+: What do you expect of your Eurovision 2014 experience? Do you think you have more chances of qualifying this year?

Valentina: I do not know .. MAYBE.  It will still be a positive experience anyways.

E+: If you don’t qualify once again, will you keep it trying or this will be your last Eurovision try?

Valentina: I think that after three times I will try to treasure it and take care about my career progress in other ways or maybe not. I want you to listen to my album live soon 🙂

E+: Do you have any favourite Eurovision winner?

Valentina: I must say that over the last 2 years that I have participated, Sweden and Denmark have impressed me a lot .. 2 amazing performers with a great soul and true love towards what they do, beautiful women and beautiful voices .

E+: Can you send a message for our readers and fans of the competition?

Valentina: Enjoy your life .. PEACE & LOVE ! 😉

Thanks kisses Vale

E+: Thank you very much for your time and see you in Copenhagen!

Valentina Monetta will sing the song “Maybe” (Forse) representing San Marino in the First Semi-Final of Eurovision 2014.
