Interview Interviews Junior Eurovision 2015 Serbia

Lena Stamenkovic: “I won’t have dancers or backing vocalists, I will be alone on stage” (Interview – Serbia at JESC 2015)

Today’s interview is coming from one of the youngest participants at this year’s Junior Eurovision: Lena Stamenkovic from Serbia!

Hello Lena! First of all, congratulations on having been selected to represent Serbia at Junior Eurovision 2015!

E+:How did you feel when RTS made you such an important proposal? Did you take some time to accept it?

I was very surprised when my mother told me I was the one who will represent Serbia at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. This competition is a great opportunity to introduce myself and my song to the audience, so I am very happy to represent my country at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. Of course, I’ve accepted it immediately.

E+: Had you previously watched Junior Eurovision? Did ever imagine you were going to take part in a Eurovision event?

I have followed the Eurovision Song Contest and the Junior Eurovision Song Contest before. I was very happy when Sonja Skoric won the 3rd place in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Minsk in 2010. I never thought that one day I would be the one who would represent Serbia in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest.

E+: Tell us what your song is about. What is the thing you like most of “Lenina Pesma”? How was the composition procedure?

My song is about children who are alone, sad…, about good things winning the bad ones. I chose the song „Lena’s song” for the competition, and I wrote the text together with Leontina Vukomanović. I like the song because it is about children and I am the protagonist of it from the very beginning.

E+: Did you consider some other options regarding the song selection? How did the idea of the song title, “Lenina Pesma” (Lena’s Song), come to your mind?

I wrote the text together with Leontina Vukomanović, so we made “my song”..

E+: Can you tell us any funny anecdote of the composition procedure?

I was part of the composition from the very beginning, so I had so many questions for Dušan Alagić, the arranger, when I entered the studio. The most interesting questions I made him were: „When will you have everything ready? When will I listen to my song?“.

E+: Have you already decided about how your stage performance will look like? Will the dancers who appear on the presentation clip be with you on stage? How about the costume?

My team and I have prepared everything for my performance. I won’t have dancers or backing vocalists,  I will be alone on stage and you will see my show in Sofia. My goal is to feel great on stage, to feel the song and to transmit emotions to the audience. I work very hard to improve myself, to make everything perfect, just like I want.

E+: What do you expect from the upcoming experience at Junior Eurovision? What do you think it will mean for your musical career?

I am already very happy to have this opportunity and to meet all the participants from all over Europe. If I win, it will be wonderful! But, it doesn’t matter who will win. What is important is to share positive energy, music, good will…, to be a part of this show. We are all winners and it is the first big step of my career.

E+: You are one of the youngest participants at this year’s Junior Eurovision. How do you feel about this fact?

I am excited to be one of the youngest participants at this year’s Junior Eurovision.

E+: Have you taken a look at the stage design for this year’s Junior Eurovision? What do you think?

I like the stage design for this year’s Junior Eurovision, I will enjoy being on stage.

E+: Do you usually watch the senior Eurovision? If you had to choose a singer to represent Serbia, what would be your choice?

Yes, I do watch the senior Eurovision, an I like it a lot. I like all of our singers, so I can not choose only one..

E+: You recently took part in the Serbian talent show “Pinkove zvezdice”, where the audience got to know you and your singing talent. How did you experience the whole season? What was the most special moment there?

I built and improved myself through the Serbian talent show „Pinkove zvezdice“, it was a great professional experience for me. I’ve learned a lot and the most special moment there was when I achieved the 4th place.

E+: Tell us more about yourself, your favourite music style, favourite school subject, hobbies, musical career….

I started singing at my brother’s christening. I sing in a choir and play the piano at the music school, for four years now. My favourite season is spring. Favourite book is Sara Key. Movie Titanic. I have tree favourite colours: black, white and blue. I like Alicia Keys, Sting, Jelena Tomašević… I like to spend time with my friends and play with them.

E+: If you could invisible for a day, what would you do?

If I could be invisible for a day, I would tease my friends.

E+: One word to describe yourself:

Persistent.

E+: Can you send a message for our readers and Junior Eurovision fans?

Enjoy the music and love yourself.

Thank you very much for your time and see you in Sofia!
