We have finally reach our 10th and last part of our Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2014 introduction series, where we have been introducing the 10 artst competing. We hope you have enjoyed this small series and now know better who will perform on stage tonight.
Song number 10th is called Wanna Be Loved and will be performed by Michael Rune feat. Natascha Bessez, and it is written by Lars Halvor Jensen, Martin Larssons, Lemare Obika and Luke Madd. We unfortunaetely wasn’t able to get to talk to Natascha Bessez, because she was in USA working, but we still got an exclusive interview with Michael Rune, and you can hear him tell about how he got the idea to work with Natascha and more in our interview below.
Michael Rune was born and raised in the host city of Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2014, Odense. He is known as one of Denmark’s best saxophone players, but it was actually not in the cards, that it would be like that. Michael only started playing saxophone because he had a crush on a girl, when he was younger. The girl played saxophone, and Michael wanted to impress her so he took saxophone lessons in the summer, so he could start in her saxophone class when the fall came. In the fall Michael showed up to the class proud and excited to show the girl his skills, only to find out that she had quit the class. But Michael had developed a big love for playing the saxophone, so he continued playing, and later got educated as a saxophone player at the Funen Academy of Music. In 2011, he had his breakthrough on the Danish music scene with the club hit Min Indre Stemme featuring Nadia Gattas, which reached number 6 on the Danish music chart. Michael Rune since released another single with Cecilie Fleur, and currently is working on his debut album. Tonight though, all his focus will be on Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2014, where he will perform song number 10 Wanna Be Loved.
But Michael won’t be alone on stage tonight. He will be joined by American Natascha Bessez. Natascha is a singer and actress from New York. She has among other things played a role in the Sex and the city movie, and done many covers of hit songs. Last year she released her first original single Heal, and just as Michael, she is currently working on her debut album. But tonight they will join each other on stage, and hope that they can take I Wanna Be Loved all the way to Eurovision in Copenhagen.
