In a little more than 2 weeks time, the national selection of the Eurovision host country Denmark will take place, on the 8th of March to be more exact. 10 artists will compete in this year’s Dansk Melodi Grand Prix, and here on esc-plus, we have been lucky to have a little talk with 9 of them. So as a prelude to Dansk Melodi Grand Prix we will publish those interviews in the coming weeks and at the same time write a bit about the artists so by March 8th, you’ll know exactly who will be on the stage.

So today we will kick off with the artist that will perform first in the running order. Bryan Rice will open the show, exactly like he did, when he participated in Dansk Melodi Grandprix 2010. In our video interview below, you can hear his thoughts on that and much more!

Bryan Rice was born in the city DÃ¥strup on May 29th 1978. The Danish public got to know him, when he participated in the talentshow Stjerne For En Aften, where previous Danish Eurovision representatives such as Malene Mortensen and Jakob Sveistrup has also participated. Bryan unfortunately didn’t reach the final, but that didn’t mean that he had given up on music. He broke into the Danish music scene in 2005 with his smash hit No Promises, that was on the soundtrack for the movie Nynne. The song became a huge success and even went on to become the 4th most played Danish song in the period 2000-2009. With No Promises, Bryan’s carreer were on a roll and it resulted in his debut album called Confessional being released in 2006. This album became very successful too and was released in 14 countries, including places as far away as Taiwan, Indonesia and South Africa. Since then Bryan Rice has released two more albums and several singles, with most of them doing very well in the Danish charts.I

In 2009 Bryan Rice became acquainted with Dansk Melodi Grand Prix for the first time, as he had co-written the song Underneath My Skin by Christina Undhjem. That experience was so great for him that when Danish TV offered him a wildcard to be on stage himself in 2010, he agreed to do it. His song Breathing came very close to winning, but in the end, he narrowly lost out to Chanée & N’evegreen. Last year he tried out again as a songwriter on Albin’s song Beuatiful To Me, but it unfortunately didn’t reach the superfinal. But this year, Bryan Rice is back on stage at Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2014 with the song I Choose U, and he will do his best to turn his silver medal from 2010 into gold.
