ESC+Plus has talked with Edward Meison, one of the finalists of the Georgian national final set on January 14. Edward will compete with the song “We Are Freeee”.

ESC+Plus: Hello Edward! Congratulations on having qualified for the Georgian national final. Firstly, how do you feel right now before the final?

I’m very happy. I believe in this song that is about peace and not war, make world better and bright.

E+: Can you tell us a bit about you and your musical career?

I’m 25 years old, I love music and I sing from my childhood. I have my home studio where I did my song for Eurovision (We Are Free) and I am also writing songs for some singers.

Since three years ago I’m singing at clubs and restaurants where I perform cover of all the singers. This is my work.

Three years ago (2012) I was in Eurovision song contest in Georgia with song “Hey you” but the winner was Anti Jokhadze.

E+: Why did you decide entering the Georgian national selection for Eurovision?

I love Europe and it’s my dream go to Eurovision.

E+: What would represent your country at one of the biggest musical events mean for you?

It would be a big honour for me.

E+: Your song  is “We Are Freeee” composed by yourself and Tako Vadachkoria as lyricist. How was the composition procedure? What is the story behind the lyrics?

Tako is my friend and one year ago I did this song for sale but it couldn’t be possible because the singer couldn’t sing it. Then I decided to make it for Eurovision because I saw it was perfect for the contest – lyrics, music, melody and I did it.

This song is about peace and not war, make world better and bright.

E+: Can you tell us a bit about your performance and staging for the final?

I’m working by myself every day. I will have four backing singers: Tornikeee Metskhvarishvili, Tako Ananikiani, Sofia Sujiani and Michael Goldman.

E+: What are your main strengths so as to get the people’s support and reach Eurovision?

I think I have a powerful song with good lyrics and good arrangement. This song is modern style and has good melody. It’s a mix of pop, ballad, dub step, trap, and house electro. I think it’s for Europe

E+: Imagine you win the Georgian selection, what would you do at that moment?

I’d go crazy 🙂 I can’t imagine it. I haven’t a producer and a man who tells me how to do it. If I win, I will be grateful to God!

E+: Do you usually watch Eurovision? Do you have any favourite song in the history of the competition?

Yes, I have three or four favourites as “Rise like a Phoenix” by Conchita Wurst, “Euphoria” by Loreen and “Not Alone” by Aram Mp3.

E+: Finally, would you like to send a message for our readers?

I want to ask you please share my song if you like I will be very glad and thankful! I love you all who love my song and who don’t love it and will dislike it. I am not harmful and not envious.
