Freschta: “I hope I can light up this beautiful ballad with my voice and the stage performance” (Swiss finalist – Interview)

ESC+Plus has talked to Freschta, finalist of this year’s Swiss national selection for Eurovision. Freschta will perform “Gold” in the ESC 2017 – Die Entscheidungsshow’s final set to take place on February 5th.

ESC+Plus: Hello! First of all, thank you so much for your time and congratulations on having been selected to take part in the Swiss national final for Eurovision 2017!

Can you tell us about you, your musical career and important achievements?

Freschta: Everything started with my participation at „The Voice of Switzerland“ 2014. I reached the semifinal. After „The Voice“ I have done some projects in the music business, but my focus was on a vocational training in the commercial sector, which I will complete in 2017. And 2017 is also the year, when I want to promote my musical career with my first own album.

ESC+Plus: What impelled you to take part in the Swiss national final for Eurovision 2017?

Freschta: This time, a producer came up with the idea. I met him the first time at the show „The Voice of Switzerland“. He knew I would like to join the ESC. My friend Ira May, wrote the song GOLD. Ira May is a Swiss singer and songwriter and her own albums reached the swiss Top10 album charts.

ESC+Plus: How did you feel when you knew you had qualified for the final? Did you expect it?

Freschta: This is my second attempt to reach the national selection and I`m so happy that the Swiss jury likes the song and my performance. I feel blessed.

ESC+Plus:  What would it mean to you to represent Switzerland?

Freschta: It would mean much to me to show the world that Switzerland has talented musicians, which are worth discovering – besides the beautiful landscapes and the diverse traditions.

ESC+Plus: Can you tell us about your song? What is the story behind the lyrics?

Freschta: Actually it is about the eternal theme for songs… love-sickness. But for me it is about Music. I missed being on a big stage after „The Voice of Switzerland“, so I relate this song to Music.

ESC+Plus: Why do you think your song has to be selected for Kiev? What are you strengths to reach the top in the competition?

Freschta: The biggest strength is the song. And I hope I can light up this beautiful ballad with my voice and the stage performance

ESC+Plus: Have you thought about your performance for the Swiss final?

Freschta: We worked at the song and the performance in the past weeks and I will give my best. I hope the audience will feel the song as much as I do.

ESC+Plus: Do you usually watch Eurovision? What is your favorite song in the history of the competition?

Freschta: Yes, I usually watch Eurovision with my mother. My favourite song is Euphoria and my favourite swiss song was „Time to shine“ from Mélanie René.

ESC+Plus: If you could choose a Eurovision former participant to sing along with, who would it be?

Freschta: I would like to sing along with Loreen and Conchita Wurst. 3 Non Blondes…

ESC+Plus: Finally, can you send a message for our readers and Eurovision fans?

Freschta: Thanks for the support, be patient… there will be more music soon. For updates follow me on Facebook and visit my homepage www.freschta.com. And if you live in Switzerland: Vote for me at the Swiss final if you like my Song Gold. And last but not least: Have a lot of fun with the Eurovision Song Contest 2017!
