Exclusive video interview with Basim from DMGP 2014: “Cliche Love Song is a party song”

We have now reached the 8th part of our Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2014 introduction series, where we are introducing the competing artists.

Today it’s time for Basim! Basim will perform song number 8 Cliche Love Song at Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2014. Basim has written the song himself along with Lasse Lindorff, Daniel Fält og Kim Nowak-Zorde. But Basim actually has 2 songs in this year Dansk Melodi Grand Prix, as he has also co-written Emilie Moldow‘s song. Find out how he feels about that and more in our interview below.

Basim was born on July 4th 1992 in the Danish city Gladsaxe to a family of Morrocan origin. Basim and his brother Nabil has always had a strong love for music, and in the fall of 2007, Basim decided to audition for the first season of the Danish version of the talent show X Factor. Despite his first audition not going very well, the judges decided to send him through. Basim improved a lot from his first audition throughout the show and in the end he ended up coming 4th. Later in 2008 Basim released his first album Alt Det Jeg Ville Have Sagt, produced by his mentor on X Factor, Remee. Two songs from the albums, the title song Alt Det Jeg Ville Have Sagt and especiallly Jeg Vil, became big hits in Denmark. Basim has since released another album, an EP, and several singles with many of them becoming popular in Denmark. Right now he is starring in the Danish version of the musical Grease along with fellow Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2014 participant Anna David, which is his first acting job. On March 8th Basim will fully focus on his music, when he performs Cliche Love Song at Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2014.
