The most surprising participant of this year’s line-up is Krista Siegfrieds, who represented Finland at Eurovision 2013 with the song “Ding Dong”. Apart from her and Molly Sandén, Sweden at Junior Eurovision 2006, the other artists haven’t reached the Eurovision stage yet.

Melodifestivalen 2016 will consist of 6 shows, fours semi-finals, a Second Chance show (March 5) and a Grand Final (March 12) held in Stockholm. Two acts from each semi-final will make it to the final, while the 3rd and 4th placed will compete in the Second Chance (Andra Chansen) from which four contenders will qualify for the Grand Final.

The shows of Melodifestivalen will be hosted by Gina Dirawi along with different co-hosts.
