The most famous Eurovision national selection kicks off today with the first semi-final taking place live from Gothenburg!
SVT have just released the two-minute versions of the songs that will be competing at today’s show. The participants were initially seven, but two days ago, the Swedish broadcaster announced the disqualification of the song “Himmel för två” and, consequently, its performer Anna Book. The song was against the rules of the competition having already been among the Moldovan candidate songs for Eurovision 2014.

Melodifestivalen 2016 will consist of 6 shows, fours semi-finals, a Second Chance show (March 5) and the Grand Final (March 12) held in Stockholm. Two acts from each semi-final will make it to the final, while the 3rd and 4th placed will compete in the Second Chance (Andra Chansen) from which four contenders will qualify for the Grand Final. All shows will be hosted by Gina Dirawi along with different co-hosts.
