Sweden: First finalists have been chosen!

The 1st semi-final of the Swedish national final Melodifestivalen 2016 has just finished! Tonight, Sweden started the journey to find its representative for this year’s Eurovision host country with the first of six live shows, where Gina Dirawi and Petra Mede were the hosts .

Six songs were performed with two going straight to the final, two going to ”Andra Chansen”, the second chance round, and the remaining two being eliminated from the competition. The results were the following:

Directly to the final:

Ace Wilder – Don’t Worry

Robin Bengtsson – Constellation Prize


Through to ”Andra Chansen”:

Albin & Mattias – Rik

Samir & Viktor – Bada Nakna



Mimi Werner – Ain’t No Good – 5th place

Pernilla Andersson – Mitt Guld – 6th place


The 7th participant that was supposed to compete in this semifinal, Anna Book, was unfortunately disqualied from the show on Thursday, but she got to perform her entry Himmel För Två for the Swedish viewers as an interval act.

Melodifestivalen 2016 will continue on the next Saturday with the 2nd semifinal, which will be held in the 2013 Eurovision host city Malmö. There, seven new acts will compete to go through to the final.
