Spain: Rosa López’s ESC 2002 act gets performed after 15 years with her original backing vocalists!

If you thought this was never going to happen, you were not definitely expecting this. Last night’s all 16 artists from Operación Triunfo (Star Academy) who rose up to stardom 15 years ago met last night in Barcelona’s Palau Sant Jordi in front of 17.000 people to perform the hits that made the TV program so popular and memorable. It was not also a mystery that Rosa would get to sing her Eurovision song again, but this time with her original backing vocalists: David Bisbal, David Bustamante, Chenoa, Gisela & Geno. All of them have relatively made an impact on the music industry during the past years but never reunited again to perform the track in these recent years.

Operación Triunfo, was a popular music TV show created by production company Gestmusic Endemol which was adopted by lots of countries around the world on multiple variants, some of them under the same name, some others went to create ”Idol” format, which was occasionally related to it. In Spain, the show reach the highest peaks on TV at the time and made the Eurovision 2002 grand final reached the top  in Spain becoming the most watched TV program since audiences are measured.

Rosa was also invited to sing the song at Eurovision’s Greatest Hits anniversary last year in London at Apollo Eventim Theatre among ESC stars who made history for the contest. The event commemorated 60 years of the Eurovision Song Contest.

Fans are still expecting that tickets for a possible concert in Madrid will be on sale soon, this is unconfirmed, though.

About Adrián Valiente (Spain)

Adrián Valiente (Spain)
I love the Eurovision Song Contest not only because of its amazing production but it also gives me the chance to discover new music every year. I've been watching it since 2002, since then I became a huge follower, mostly because of the interest TVE put on it with Rosa from Spain. I've attended the contest several times in the last few years. I also attended the Junior Eurovision in Malta and Bulgaria where we lived an amazing experience thanks to all delegations and PBS/BNT organising team.
