Spain: First two artists openly state entering national selection ”Objetivo Eurovisión”

Things are going spicy in Spain as two singers have already announced they will try their luck at this year’s Spanish national selection process for Eurovision 2017. It is all about María Villalón, who won the 1st series of the Spanish version of ”The X Factor” in 2007, and Pablo San Andrés, who worked with one of last year’s songwriters of the Spanish song, Rubén Villanueva, for his Eurovision entry.

María will be sending in two songs to Spanish broadcaster RTVE, one of them has just been released and available to listen below, ”Dirige al viento” (”Lead the wind”):

However, Pablo’s bid is still pending to be launched and will be out shorty, announcement coming out soon. Anyway, we invite you to read the following interview (if you have already developed your skills at Spanish language) and listen to some of his tracks below:

Pablo publicy stated on our interview that the song he will be aiming to represent Spain with is called ”Pride” and defines it as a track ”whose message could directly be addressed to the Eurovision fans but everyone might also feel identified with”. The song is purely written in Spanish.

RTVE announced that they would opt for an open selection method for Eurovision 2017 last week, during the past few days and months, lots of singers from the Spanish music scene have already stated whether they would be rooting for the chance to represent Spain in Kiev.

This year, ”Objetivo Eurovision”, will be divided into two different stages, the first one will be all done through the RTVE Eurovision website where artists can apply to get into the process, then 30 entries will be selected for the public to choose the best 1o out of those 30, then an internal panel will be in charge of selecting the best three and give the users the final say where an online appointment, streamed on the site, will be used to pick the artist who will make it to the actual final show with an specific number of professional artists previously selected by RTVE, fighting to get the ticket to fly the Spanish colours in Ukraine.
