TVP has just revealed the 9 acts that will compete to represent Poland at Eurovision 2016!
The line-up for the Polish Eurovision national final was revealed during the “Świat się kręci” talk show, hosted by long-time Polish Eurovision commentator Artur Orzech, who was also part of the 5-person jury panel in charge of selecting the 9 best contenders out of 88 submissions received.
Check the official list below and listen to the songs:
- Natalia Szroeder – Lustra
- Edyta Górniak – Grateful
- Taraka – In the Rain
- Aleksandra Gintrowska – Missing
- Michał Szpak – Color of Your Life
- Margaret – Cool Me Down
- Kasia Moś – Addiction
- Dorota Osińska – Universal
- Napoli – My Universe
Especially one of the 9 acts will be familiar to Eurovision fans, namely Edyta Górniak, who was the first artists to represent Poland at Eurovision in 1994, when she finished 2nd. To date, this remains Poland’s only top 5 result at Eurovision. Furthermore, Kasia Moś previously competed to represent Poland in 2006, and Napoli in this year’s Belarusian final, even with the same song.
However, the line-up includes several other well-established acts : Michał Szpak was a finalist in X Factor 2011, Dorota Osińska was a finalist in The Voice of Poland 2013, and both Natalia Szroeder and Margaret have had several major hits in Poland.
All candidates will perform their songs live at following editions of “Świat się kręci”, from 18 February to 4 March. The winner will be selected during a final show to be held on 5 March at the TVP headquarters in Warsaw, where the Polish representative for Eurovision 2016 will be chosen by 100% SMS voting.
Poland is selecting externally for the first time since its “comeback” in 2014. Will they be more successful than in previous years with this procedure?
