Italy: Stadio wins the ”Cover Award” of this year’s San Remo Music Festival!

The Italian group has won tonight’s special competition for the best cover among the 20 participanting singers in the ”Campioni Category.” Stadio performed ”La Sera Dei Miracoli” whose original version is sung by Lucio Dalla. After two rounds of voting, a 50-50 combination of public and press jury voting chose the act with the best cover version, who were given this special prize.

Tonight’s line-up looked as it follows:

Tomorrow, the semi-final of the contest will take place live from the Ariston Theatre in San Remo. All twenty artists from the ”Campioni Category” are competing at this year’s edition to get the trophy and consequently have the chance to represent Italy at Eurovision 2016. However, if the winner declines the invitation, the Italian hopeful for Stockholm will be selected among the other candidates.

The overall voting is now open until today when a mix of public televote, professional jury and audience will decide the five acts which will not make through to the final of Sanremo, set tomorrow.

Dates of Sanremo 2106:

  • Semi-Final 1 – February 9
  • Semi-Final 2 – February 10
  • Semi-Final 3 – Feburuary 11
  • Semi-Final 4 – February 12
  • Final – February 13

The 66th edition of Sanremo is hosted by Carlo Conti along with Gabriel Garko, Madalina Ghenea and Virginia Raffaele. You can watch the show live on RAI 1 at 20.30:
