Israel: Rising Star for Eurovision 2017 to kick off on January 2

IBA has announced that they will use the talent show “HaKochav Haba Le’eyrovizion 2017” (Rising Star for Eurovision 2017) to select the Israeli entrant for the European contest as they already did in 2015 and 2016.

The broadcaster wants to continue with the same selection procedure that has led them to successful results at the Eurovision Grand Final two years in a row. The show will kick off on the 2nd of January 2017 with new contenders aimed to represent Israel in Kyiv:

The first episode of Rising Star for Eurovision 2017 will be aired on January 2, while the whole season is expected to follow the same procedure than in 2016 when the finalists competed with original songs at a special stage. The 4th edition of Rising Star will feature a professional jury panel made up of old and new faces: Asaf Amdursky, Harel Skaat (Eurovision 2010), Keren Peles, Static and Ben-El Tavori.
