Ira Losco to perform ”Walk On Water” for Malta in Stockholm!

Maltese broadcaster PBS has just announced on their official Eurovision Facebook page that it is now official that MESC 2016 winner and 2002 entrant Ira Losco is changing her song for Stockholm, the new track is called ”Walk On Water”.  The presentation will be made as part of TVM’s evening news broadcast at 20:00 on Thursday 17 March. On Friday, Ira will be part of Friday’s Xarabank to present the new song.

The song has been selected among several professionals of the music industry from both Malta and 13 different European countries. Another revamped version of Chameleon was also in the running but as they have just ”said”: ”“Walk on Water” was the overwhelming favourite to represent Malta in Stockholm”.

The video for Ira’s new song was filmed last week at the Malta National Aquarium, and across several locations in Gozo. The song was officially submitted to the European Broadcast Union before last weekend’s deadline.

Malta held its traditional Malta Eurovision Song Contest last January, where we attended to bring you the first ever coverage of the event on our website. Eventually, Ira Losco took the trophy with her song ”Chameleon (Invincible)” but the rules allowed the winner to change their entry so as to look for the song that could give the country the best rank possible in the contest.

What do you think about the change? Will Ira get to improve her 2002 result and bring the contest to Malta for the first time ever? Stay tuned!

About Adrián Valiente (Spain)

I love the Eurovision Song Contest not only because of its amazing production but it also gives me the chance to discover new music every year with hundreds of songs from all over Europe. I've been watching it since 2002, since then I became a huge follower, mostly because of the interest TVE put on it with Rosa from Spain. I've attended the contest three times, in Malmö, Copenhagen and Vienna; Stockholm will be my 4th. I also attended the Junior Eurovision in Malta and Bulgaria where we lived an amazing experienced thanks to all delegations and PBS/BNT organising team.
