Hovi Star to represent Israel with Made of Stars!

After a long selection process, we have just got to know who will be waving the Israeli flag in Stockholm: Hovi Star will perform “Made of Stars” in the second semi-final of Eurovision 2016!

The winning act has been selected among four candidates at the final of the reality singing show HaKokhav HaBa L’Eirovizion (“The Next Star for Eurovision”):

  • Ela Daniel – Somebody Out There (David Maman and Philip Halloun) – 3rd place
  • Gil Hadash – Follow The Sun (Stav Beger and Tom Gefen) – 4th place
  • Hovi Star – Made Of Stars (Doron Medalie)
  • Nofar Salman – Made Of Stars (Doron Medalie) – 2nd place

100% public vote via mobile app was in charge of selecting the winner and, thus, Israeli representative at the Eurovision Song Contest 2016.

This year, the selection format has been a bit different from the one used in 2015, where the winner was firstly chosen and then given a song, as all finalists competed at the national final with the songs they would perform at Eurovision in case of a victory. The songs were chosen by an expert committee from more than 100 entries submitted. Two of the candidates performed the same song, Made of Stars by “Golden Boy” composer Doron Medalie, with different arrangements.

What do you think about the Israeli choice for Stockholm?
