Time for one of the most awaited national finals of this year’s Eurovision season! After 6 years, BBC is producing the first and of one of the biggest national selection shows they have ever done. Tonight, Eurovision: You Decide will take place live from The O2 Forum in Kentish Town, London (tickets are still available by clicking HERE!) and six shortlisted acts will fight to get the ticket leading one of them to go on the Eurovision stage in Stockholm. The finalists have been chosen from three different routes of entry: Public submission, submissions to BASCA (the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors) and by British Music Industry consultant Hugh Goldsmith, former MD of RCA and founder of Innocent Records. he six competing songs were premiered during The Ken Bruce Show on BBC Radio 2 on 22 February 2016.
Check the line-up below:
- Joe & Jake – You’re Not Alone
- Bianca – Shine A Little Light
- Dulcima – When You Go
- Matthew James – A Better Man
- Darline – Until Tomorrow
- Karl William Lund – Miracle
90 minute British extravaganza will be aired from 20:30 till 22:00 (CET) (19:30 – 21:00 local time) on BBC4, IPlayer & Eurovision.tv WEB PLAYER. Actress Mel Giedroyc was approached as the only host for the whole show and also several Eurovision acts such as last year’s winner Mans Zelmerlöw and 1997 UK winning entrant Katrina Leskanich will be performing on stage apart from the 6 competing entries.
Katrina will also serve as one of the members of the expert panel (completed by vocal coach and TV presenter Carrie Grant and staging director, dancer and actor Jay Revell) which will only be used to provide feedback and reactions to the performances, thus the winner and UK representative will be solely decided by the public, who can also use the online vote to cast their decision right.
