From Armenia in the east we head to Eurovision’s most westerly nation Iceland. Iceland has yet to win the Eurovision Song Contest but this year are represented by María Ólafsdóttir with the song “Unbroken”.

Iceland debuted in Eurovision in 1986 with the group ICY and their song “Gleðibankinn” which finished 16th with 19 points. Iceland’s best result in the contest came in 2009 when Yohanna represented Iceland in Moscow, she sang “Is It True?” finished in 2nd place with a total of 218 points.

On the Icelandic Eurojury today are two former Eurovision participants, they are:

  • Bo Halldorsson – Represented Iceland at Eurovision 1995 with the song “Núna”, he finished 15th with 31 points.
  • Ágústa Eva (Silvia Night) – Ágústa represented Iceland in Athens with the comedy character Silvia Night, she sang “Congratulations” but finished 13th in the semi final.
