ESC+Plus has talked to Catrinah, candidate of this year’s Lithuanian national selection for Eurovision. Catrinah will perform “Be Free” in the next Eurovizijos show to take place tomorrow.
ESC+Plus: Hello! First of all, thank you so much for your time and congratulations on having been selected to take part in the Lithuanian national selection for Eurovision 2016.
Thank you for questions, I was pleased. All the best to you and your ESC+PLUS team!
Can you tell us about you, your musical career and important achievements?
My biggest achievement is the progress that I’m doing in my musical career everyday. Keep going – keep doing!
E+: What impelled you to take part in Eurovizijos 2016?
The story began 3 years ago when I started working with the electronic music record label Meska Music. Together we created – Catrinah. And started recording songs, one of them – Be Free. After Be Free was born we felt like this song had something in it. We were like – “We should totally do that, we have a good song!”. So that’s how we’ve come up with the idea to participate in Eurovision 2016. Inspired by a song, I think it should be like that always.
E+: How did you feel during your first performance on stage? Did you expect to get the ticket for the next show?
I was feeling very good. My and my very cool team were doing all our best and expecting to go further every time!
E+: What would it mean to you to represent Lithuania?
It would be an honour for me of course. Me and my team would give all our best!
E+: Can you tell us about your song? What is the story behind the lyrics?
My song is about freedom. The earth is suffering from the war conflicts, terrorism acts, social system slavery and other cruelty. People need a story about truth that there is no point to kill each other. You are free to choose build or destroy, free to religion, free to continue your life such as it is, or take something to change? I chose to BE FREE and participate in the Eurovision Song Contest this year.
E+: Why do you think your song has to be selected for Stockholm? What are you strengths to reach the top in the competition?
I think that my song “Be free” has a big potential to become a world-famous hit. The message we want to bring is very actual for all over the world. The music carries it on and has the power!
E+: Will you change anything from your stage performance for the next phase of Eurovizijos?
Definitely! In this century we have a great opportunity to present music not only by sound but also by visualizations, lights, your look, it just helps spread the message of the song to all people. So, get ready, I will surprise.
E+: Do you usually watch Eurovision? What are your favourite songs in the history of the competition?
Every year I watch the national Eurovision contest and finals as well. I like it because you can always see something fresh and creative. Each contest can inspire you even if you don’t participate in it. I know for sure that I don’t like Eurovision “standard” songs.
E+: If you could choose a Eurovision former participant to sing along with, who would it be?
Not sure who exactly would be, but definitely a guy!
E+: Besides Eurovision, what are your plans for this year?
My plans – inspire more people, follow my heart, release 2 or 3 singles, start recording my album and become a better person more than I am now. 🙂
E+: Finally, can you send a message for our readers and Eurovision fans?
My message is – Love Peace and Freedom on earth! I believe that every step is our choice and we are free to change our life for the better everyday. We just need to take the responsibility for our life and start being free. BE FREE!
E+: Thanks for your time and good luck!
