Austria: ORF will look for their 2017 entry internally

Austrian broadcaster ORF has confirmed today its participation at the forthcoming Eurovision Song Contest in Kiev. Moreover, the corporation has also revealed that they will opt for an internal selection in regards to their artist for Ukraine.

The country will follow 2014’s footsteps with Conchita Wurst, as back then the song and the artist was picked ”under the surface” and resulted in a win after 47 years when Udo Jürgens took the victory for the first time.

In the past few years, Austria has contemplated results at the contest with mixed emotions as they got to be last in 2015 when they hosted in Vienna with The Makemakes and ”I’m Yours”. On the other hand, they reached the final in Stockholm and ranked 12th in the grand final (placing 8th in the televote) which could have made ORF thinking about going once again for the win in Kiev.

Who would you recommend ORF to represent the country in Kiev? Tell us what your thoughts are and stay tuned for more details!

I love the Eurovision Song Contest not only because of its amazing production but it also gives me the chance to discover new music every year with hundreds of songs from all over Europe. I've been watching it since 2002, since then I became a huge follower, mostly because of the interest TVE put on it with Rosa from Spain. I've attended the contest three times, in Malmö, Copenhagen and Vienna; Stockholm will be my 4th. I also attended the Junior Eurovision in Malta and Bulgaria where we lived an amazing experienced thanks to all delegations and PBS/BNT organising team.
