Cyprus: CYBC’s ”Eurovision Song Project” almost confirmed for 2016?

As a result of this year’s success at the Eurovision Song Contest with John Karagiannis and his One Thing I Should’ve Done‘ who made it to Saturday’s final after qualifying from the 2nd semifinal, next year’s edition in Sweden looks positive as it may have been given green light by the Cypriot Broadcasting Corporation, CYBC, which could be organising this year’s national selection proccess over again, the so-called Eurovision Song Project.

CYBC vice-president Thanasis Tsokos proudly confirmed on newspaper Phileleftheros that the broadcaster is so much looking forward to including the format on its schedule and that it will most likely happen, as well as the contest itself in Sweden, The Olympics in Brazil and 2016 UEFA European Championship taking place next year in France, all of them counting with the Cypriot participation.

So, Eurovision fans will probably see John’s successor in Sweden being selected by the ”Song Project” format which last year’s edition lasted almost 2 months, consisting on several stages: Auditions, Eurochallenge and the final. 6 artists reached last year’s final show and the outcome was be decided through a 50/50 jury-televoting deliberation.

Do you want this method to be repeated again? Stay tuned for further news in due time when we will learn if Cyprus is on it again…
